Krishna Pushkaralu starts on Friday 12 August 2016 ends on Tuesday 23 August. Krishna Pushkaralu occurs in every 12 years. Jupiter (Brihaspathi) enters into virgo (Kanya) zodiac is celebrated as Krishna Pushkaralu. Pushkaralu period is last for 12 Days. In India we have 12 sacred rivers and all these twelve rivers is associated with a zodiac sign, and the river for each year’s festival is based on which sign Jupiter is in at the time. Pushkaram is an Indian festival dedicated to worshiping of rivers. The first twelve days of Pushkaralu are very important they called as Adi Pushkaralu, and the last twelve days are called Anthya Pushkaralu.

Krishna Pushkaralu arrangements were done in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh state. In Telangana state 79 ghats were developed for people conveneince. Mahboob Nagar has 50 ghats 10 was important they are Krishna, Passula, Neteeopadu, Nandimalla, Jurala, Bheechupalli, Somashila (VIP ghat), Pathala Ganga (Srisailam), Gadwal river and Rangapuram. Nalgonda has 29 ghats and 7 are important they are Vadapalli Shivalayam, Mattapalli ghat, Buggamadaram, Nagarjunsagar, Vadapalli Ayyappa, aadavi devulapalli and Mahankali ghat. Krishna Pushkaralu expecting 3 crores people for sacred bath so, arrangements were done accordingly. Telangana spended 800 crores for Krishna Pushkar developments.

Significance of Pushkaralu:

The significance of Pushkaralu is to give pradosha to the ancients. Pushkaralu believed as that taking a sacred bath in the rivers, when Pushkar is present, will wipe off all their sins. So, people look for Pushkaralu time to have a sacred bath. Krishna Pushkaralu along with the sacred bath pinda pradanam is at great importance. Following Krishna river shore many kingdoms and provinces were ruled in olden days they are Shatavahana, Chalukya, Nizam navabs. Krishna river shore surroundings are famous with temples like 5th shaktipeeta Jogulamba and Bala Brahma temple.

About Krishna River :

Krishna river born in Maharastra state, Mahabaleawaram near Jour village and the river merger into Bay of Bengal near Hamsaladevi of krishna district Andhra Pradesh state. Krishna river flows 1440 KM and the river flows in four stats they are Maharastra, Karnataka, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. In Telangana Krishna river enters in Mahboob Nagar district near Sangam and leves at Nalgonda district Mella chervu mandal Buggamadaram. In Telangana Krishna river flows in Mahboob Nagar and Nalgonda. In Andhra Pradesh Krishna river flows in Karnool, Guntur and Krishna.

Krishna river actual name is Krishnaveni as Krishna means Black and Veni means flow. Krishna river tributaries from left are Bheema, Dindi, Peddavagu, Haliya, Musi, paleru and Munneru. Krishna river tributaries from right are Venna, Koyana, Pancha Ganga, Dud Gannga, Ghata Prabha, Mala prabha and Tunga Bhadra.

Krishna river has huge projects they are Radhanagari, Tunga Bhadra, Jurala, NagarjunSagar, Srisailam, Veer, Ghata Prabha, Goad, Narayanpur, kadak valsa, Koyana, Almatti, Prakasam Barage, Handrineva, pulichintala, Potireddipadu regulator.
